Wicked Wichita Brew Tour: Part 1 Limestone Beer Co.

After a successful first year the Wicked Wichita Brew Tour is back again. The details have remained the same from last year with only a few changes to the participating businesses.

The premise is fairly simple, visit one of the participating coffee shops or breweries, pickup your brew tour passport and start drinking. After getting your passport stamped at 8 different locations you get a great looking T-shirt courtesy of Visit Wichita. If you are not a beer drinker you can just visit every coffee shop on the list.

As both a coffee and beer conosueir this is a fun promotion for me to get behind.

Wicked Brew Stop #1

The first stop on my brew tour was Wichita’s newest brewery, Limestone Beer Company. This small place is tucked away in a strip mall at Waco and Murdock and shares a space with the restaurant Sweet Allie B’s.

A Vibrant Linny the Wise

On our visit they only had three beers available, but that gave me a chance to try each one. First up was the Rampart Rider, a easy drinking Pilsner that would appease most casual beer drinkers with its mild malty flavor. The second beer was Linny the Wise, a raspberry Berliner Weisse. This was a nice refreshing wheat beer that was perfect on a warm summer evening. The sour raspberry flavor was not overwhelming making it another beer that would appeal to fans of sour and fruit infused beers. The last beer I tried was Laurlei Farmhouse Ale. This was a good Saison style beer that was crisp and smooth with a slight funky finish that makes Farmhouse Ales so delicious.

Overall I was impressed with Limestone’s brews although I wish they would have had more than three available, but that just gives me an excuse to go back.
